Using the World ID developer API, Galxe is now integrated with WorldID. This secure, permissionless identity protocol empowers millions to prove their humanness online while preserving privacy. Central to our mission of facilitating Web3 accessibility and utility while empowering digital privacy, World ID’s proof of humanness enables Galxe users to privately authenticate into web, mobile, and decentralized applications, unlocking the world of Web3 with the maximum level of assurance in data security and privacy. World ID can be used to ensure individuals only complete each quest once.

World ID

World ID is a secure, permissionless proof-of-personhood (PoP) protocol that empowers millions to prove their humanness online while preserving privacy. It leverages a state-of-the-art hardware device — the Orb—to verify an individual's humanness and uniqueness using iris biometrics, and the underlying software helps ensure all user credentials are safeguarded with Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP).

With this mechanism, World ID ensures that all credentials belong to a unique human. This ability to discern unique users equips platforms with the ability to pave the way to fairer campaigns, more robust defense against Sybil attacks, and balanced governance.

To preserve privacy while being inclusive and open, users have exclusive control of their World IDs through their devices. This is then underpinned by ZKP cryptography, which grants users the full autonomy to use their credentials with third-party platforms without revealing their real-world identity or verification data, ensuring secure yet frictionless access to decentralized infrastructures.

Elevating Privacy and Security Standards

The integration of World ID adds another layer to the existing security mechanisms on the Galxe ecosystem and solidifies the pillars of user data privacy and security, further upgrading the infrastructure in three dimensions.

  • Sybil prevention — With the rapidly advancing AI models, bots have become a problem for everything and anything across the internet. Web3 is no exception. If this issue persists, it poses a threat to decentralized protocols as there is an increased risk of Sybil attacks. World ID’s PoP is positioned to combat this by ensuring each user is an authenticated human, leaving no room for anything other than a unique individual.
  • Equitable ecosystem—The erasure of bots creates a fairer ecosystem where rewards are given to genuine participants rather than malicious bots. This goes beyond Galxe Quests and applies to platforms with coupons, loyalty programs, referral programs, and any campaigns that are prone to fraudulent farming practices.
  • Governance — Owing to its Sybil-resistant and equitable merits, World ID is poised to serve as the foundation of a global democratic organization, such as DAOs. PoP-based governance ensures that every member has an equal distribution of influence on the organization as opposed to token-based governance, where members with more economic power have an imbalanced authority.
